- Campaigns for Patient Safety
- Speaks out through TV, Radio, Newspaper and the
internet
- Exposes life-threatening weaknesses in hospital
systems
- Conducts public meetings and forums
- Categorises, prioritises and informs the medical
profession on ways to prevent fatal errors
- Provides feedback to health departments, hospitals
and authorities
- Reports to Attorneys-General, Coroners,
Parliamentary Inquiries, Treasury and the Senate
- Monitors and distributes coroners' findings,
recommendations and comments
- Runs information sessions for young doctors in
public hospitals, when things go wrong
- Co-ordinates our families' support network, the
volunteers being loved ones of patients
- Advises via practical guides to selecting which
hospitals to avoid and what to do if afflicted by medical
error
- Inspires patients and their loved ones to prevent
medical error if they see it occurring
- Advises on ways to pursue justice - what to expect
from the legal system
- Brings doctors and patients and bereaved families
together to resolve trauma
- Demands and supports government initiatives in
reducing preventable medical errors
- Demands accurate reporting of medical errors
- Campaigns to make the medical profession
transparent
- Campaigns to have Australian Bureau of Statistics
acknowledge iatrogenesis is a leading cause of death
and injury in Australia.
